Internal Medicine Service

Our internal medicine referral service provides management of patients with complex medical problems (such as diabetes, anemia, hormonal disease, immune disease, etc.) or requiring advanced diagnostic testing such as ultrasound or endoscopy (use of flexible video scopes to examine internal structures).

Dr. Jennifer McCown is certified as a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Dr. McCown obtained her B.S. in Zoology with Honors from the University of Florida in 2000. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree magna cum laude as the class valedictorian from the University of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She joined the PETS team in July 2009 after completing her three year Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at the University of Florida.

Our highly skilled and compassionate internal medicine nursing team will ensure that your pet receives the best possible care and comfort.

Our hospital has invested in the advanced equipment necessary for treating patients with complex medical problems. We are equipped with Doppler color flow ultrasound, video endoscopy, digital radiography, invasive and non-invasive blood pressure monitors, ventilators, advanced anesthetic monitoring equipment, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory.
